FRONT BRAKE FLEXIBLE HOSE > INSTALLATION

for Preparation Click here

NOTICE:
  1. Because the left and right hoses are not interchangeable, verify the part number when installing the flexible hoses.
  2. If the hoses are to be reused, connect them after checking the identification marks placed when each hose was disconnected.

1. INSTALL FRONT FLEXIBLE HOSE

    C196552
  1. Connect the front flexible hose to the disc brake cylinder assembly with the union bolt and a new gasket.

    Torque:
    30 N*m{ 301 kgf*cm , 22 ft.*lbf }

    C196566
  1. Install the front flexible hose to the absorber bracket with the 2 bolts.

    Torque:
    29 N*m{ 300 kgf*cm , 22 ft.*lbf }

    HINT:
    Install the front speed sensor first and then the front flexible hose.

    C196565
  1. Install a new clip to the front flexible hose.

    NOTICE:
    Install the clip as far as it will go.

  1. Using a union nut wrench (10 mm), connect the brake tube to the front flexible hose while holding the flexible hose with a wrench.

    Torque:
    15 N*m{ 155 kgf*cm , 11 ft.*lbf }

    NOTICE:
    1. Use the formula to calculate special torque values for situations where a union nut wrench is combined with a torque wrench (Click here).
    2. Do not kink or damage the brake line.
    3. Do not allow any foreign matter such as dirt or dust to enter the brake line from the clip or bracket.

2. FILL RESERVOIR WITH BRAKE FLUID

    C197231E02
  1. Fill the reservoir with brake fluid.

    *1
    MAX Line
    *2
    MIN Line

    Brake Fluid:
    SAE J1703 or FMVSS No. 116 DOT 3

    NOTICE:
    Add brake fluid to keep the level between the MIN and MAX lines of the reservoir while bleeding the brakes.

3. BLEED BRAKE LINE

C196629

NOTICE:
  1. Bleed the brake line of the wheel farthest from the master cylinder first.
  2. Add brake fluid to keep the level between the MIN and MAX lines of the reservoir while bleeding the brakes.

  1. Connect a vinyl tube to the bleeder plug.

  1. Depress the brake pedal several times, and then loosen the bleeder plug with the pedal depressed (Procedure 1).

  1. When fluid stops coming out, tighten the bleeder plug, and then release the brake pedal (Procedure 2).

  1. Repeat (Procedure 1) and (Procedure 2) until all the air in the fluid is completely bled out.

  1. Tighten the bleeder plug completely.

    Torque:
    Front bleeder plug:
    8.3 N*m{ 85 kgf*cm , 73 in.*lbf }
    Rear bleeder plug (for Disc Brake):
    11 N*m{ 112 kgf*cm , 8 ft.*lbf }
    Rear bleeder plug (for Drum Brake):
    8.5 N*m{ 87 kgf*cm , 75 in.*lbf }

  1. Repeat the above procedure at each wheel to bleed the brake line.

4. INSPECT FOR BRAKE FLUID LEAK

5. INSPECT BRAKE FLUID LEVEL

    C197231E01
  1. Check the brake fluid level.
    If brake fluid level is lower than the MIN line, check for leaks and inspect the disc brake pads. If necessary, refill the reservoir with brake fluid to the MAX line after repair or replacement.

    Brake Fluid:
    SAE J1703 or FMVSS No. 116 DOT 3

6. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL

Torque:
103 N*m{ 1050 kgf*cm , 76 ft.*lbf }
